Hockey Puck Display Cases for Garage Sale Finds

Hockey fans often ask the question, "What makes a great hockey puck collection?" Is it the rarest pucks? Maybe the oldest? Well, to be honest, I would say that all of these make for a killer collection. Even pucks that just have some sentimental value can be good pieces to display. All in all, I think what makes a great hockey puck collection is really in the eye of the collector. Still, I wouldn't call myself a true collector if I didn't have proper hockey puck display cases to showcase my pucks in.

A couple weeks ago I was browsing through a garage sale, and I ended up finding a bunch of really cool vintage pucks, that were near mint condition. I thought they would look great hanging on the wall in my finished basement, where most of my other hockey memorabilia is showcased. Sure, I had a puck case for most of my cherished pucks, but I thought I needed to "up the ante" a bit for these.

I got online in an attempt to snatch the most fitting puck display for my great new find. I needed a puck display case that could handle many pucks, not just a few. Preferably, I wanted a puck case that allowed me to fill it in with more pucks, as I added in the missing ones to my collection. Also, the type of frame that my case was going to have was a key factor, as well. I was looking for the all-natural elegance of wood, but was okay with plastic, as long as it looked classy. Most importantly though, I needed my hockey puck display case to be UV protective. I know, I know, there isn't much sunlight that gets to the basement, but you'd be surprised what that small amount can do to your hockey memorabilia over time. I didn't want to take my chances with these new pucks.

After some quick Google searches I came across the perfect puck display case that more than suited all of my needs for my awesome pucks. Not to mention the price was super reasonable, as well. I'm just glad these valuable pucks have a new home, and to think, I found them at a garage sale for a couple bucks. Who knew?

Hockey Wedding

Last Month Hillary Duff got married to Mike Comrie from the Pittsburgh Penguins. This brought up a hilarious topic that me and my friends love: hockey weddings. Now I love hockey as much as the next guy, but there is something a little bit cheesy to me about hockey weddings. I just feel its something I could never live down - especially after my mother-in-law murdered me.

Don't believe me? Have a look at some of these hockey wedding photos:

They both look into it - I guess that's OK.

Uhhh....Yeah

Can't Make Fun of Him

The Faceoff

These are pretty funny. I can't say I would do it, nor would I be allowed to do it. Although I can't say I would mind getting some of the hockey wedding favors they have out there!

Remembering My College Hockey Days

My College Hockey Jersey - Natural Lite

I was digging through some boxes in my attic a while back, and stumbled across my old college hockey jersey. Being an avid collector of jerseys and all things hockey, I was pretty surprised that my very own had been hiding from me in my attic, all these years. I had always wondered what had happened to it. I couldn't bring myself to just put it back in the box, and let another some odd years go by before I remember where it was again.

So, after the initial nostalgia wore off, I began thinking of what I was going to do with the my college jersey, now that it had gotten a second life. I couldn't wear it. After briefly trying it on, I realized that it was a little small for me now, and plus I didn't want it to get anymore wear and tear than it already had. The easy thing to do would have been to hang it in the closet, but I had seen my share of moths flying around the house, and I figured that placing it on a hanger would just make the collar stretch out, even more than my neck did. I had hockey jersey display cases for some of my other valuable jerseys, so I wasn't sure why it took me so long to think of getting one for my college jersey. Sooner or later though, that idea popped into my head.

I ended up going with a really great hockey jersey case to commemorate my college days. It has a classy wood frame, it doesn't stretch out the neck hole, and it has hinges on the front of the display, so I can take the jersey out whenever I want - everything you'd expect from a great hockey jersey display case, and more. The hockey jersey display with my jersey in it looked so stunning, I had to hang it right in my living room, and believe it or not, it blended in beautifully.

That whole thing made me wonder what other great hockey stuff from my past, might be stored away in my attic.

Hockey Musical - Why???

Hockey Musicals are Gross!
The Toronto film festival opened up with what is being called a 'hokey hockey musical'.
I guess the world really is trying to drive me insane. Here is their description of said monstrosity:

"Seventeen-year old Farley (Noah Reid) has the stick-handling skills of the next Sidney Crosby. Not that Farley has any idea who Crosby is. He’s led a sheltered life, home schooled by parents (Olivia Newton-John and Marc Jordan) whose idea of homework is trips to an art gallery or ashram. His best friend is Eve (Allie MacDonald), the girl who’s lived next door since they were both three. Much to the dismay of his parents, Farley loves to play shinny with the local rink rats (Dave Bidini, Hawksley Workman et al.). To their even greater dismay, Farley is signed to a major hockey league, where he achieves instant stardom, throwing him into a world of hype. Farley soon finds that hockey fame comes with a price, including the expectation to fight. Throw in a changing relationship with Eve – and Farley is losing his way."

Never in a million years.

Hockey Puck Holders - A Portable Solution

Hockey Puck Holders are Portable and Look Good Too

Hockey collectors, myself included, seem to be constantly looking for the perfect solution to store and display the different pucks in their collection. After a brief online search, I stumbled on some hockey puck holders that seem to meet all of needs for my prized pucks.

One of the major things I was looking for was a convenient and portable way to display my pucks around the house. For a long time, I had some of my favorites displayed in a frame on our living room wall. Frames look great for pucks, but because I'm constantly adding to my puck collection, I had to go through the annoying process of taking the pucks down off the wall, removing them, and putting the recently acquired ones in their place. The I found were the perfect remedy to this problem. Each puck holder is just the right size to fit one puck, so it's super portable, and plus, it's transparent on all 6 sides, making any signatures and printing on the puck, really easy to read. With these hockey puck display holders, I no longer had to resort to removing a frame off the wall, or hammering more holes in my walls to put up new frames. Now, if I don't like the way my puck looks on the coffee table, I'll just put it on the mantel, and so on.

I've been collecting pucks for decades, and honestly, I have boxes of them in my basement. Some are worth lots of money and others just hold some sentimental value to me. Unfortunately over the years, some of my more costly pucks have been ruined by the moisture and dust in my basement. I've tried a few different storage methods - none of which really work too well. The square-ish shape of these new puck holders, make it easy to store my pucks neatly, one on top of the other. They also make it easy to find a particular puck in the stack, because they're transparent. Also, the puck holders two piece snap design gives me pretty convenient access to a puck, say, if I want to take it out to show anyone, up close and personal.

These hockey puck holders are extremely convenient, and the best part is that they're very reasonably priced. I would recommend them for hockey puck collectors everywhere.

Logo Hockey Pucks

If you're an owner of a company, or perhaps part of the marketing team, chances are, you're constantly looking for new ways to get the word out about the business. You've tried putting your logo on pens, note pads, Frisbees, and everything else under the sun, but have you tried custom logo hockey pucks?

Custom logo pucks are becoming an increasingly popular way for businesses to advertise. Why? Well, for one, the surface of a puck is flat, making the logo easy to read, unlike logos on pens or pencils which are often small and distorted-looking. Secondly, logo hockey pucks are keepsake items that will last a long time - making them the perfect gift for employees and clients.

Most importantly though, logo pucks are advertising tools that people can actually interact with. Most business owners want to associate their products with "fun" and "enjoyment." This is why major corporations and small business owners alike, are choosing the hockey puck logo way of advertising. When people play with the puck in their hockey game, and they're game ended up being a great time, chances are they are going to associate their enjoyment with the company on the custom logo puck. Which means, you guessed it, more business for that company.

Because it's fairly common for public service organizations (military, police, fire department, etc) to have their own hockey leagues, they too are jumping on the logo hockey pucks bandwagon. When every member of the league has their organization's custom logo puck, it creates a great sense of spirit toward the specific group they belong to, as well as a lasting feeling of kinship for their fellow officers.

All in all, hockey puck logos for companies and organizations are a fantastic way to drum up more business, or simply to create lasting memories.
